Philco's 1960 radio line had far fewer phonograph models in the lineup but more transistorized models than ever.

Model H691

Philco's only tube-type portable radio for the 1960 season uses four tubes plus a selenium rectifier, and can operate on AC or DC current or on battery power.

The AM ferrite rod antenna is built into the handle, which may be rotated for best reception.

Model H759

A five tube AM radio and a Telechron J2 automatic clock are the features of the H759.

The cabinet was available only in ivory.

Another five tube model, this Philco uses a Telechron J3 automatic clock.

The cabinet was available in three colors:

  • Green
  • Pink
  • Ivory

Philco Model H763

Model H763

This model uses a Telechron J4 automatic clock timer with a snooze button on top.

The AM radio uses five tubes.

This model includes an AC outlet, to which an appliance may be plugged into for automatic turn on and turn off.

The cabinet was made in three colors:

  • Mahogany
  • Ebony
  • Ivory

This Philco model uses the same radio circuit of the H759, along with a Westclox automatic pushbutton clock timer.


Philco Model H765

Model H765

A clock radio with styling inspired by the Philco Predicta TV set, this model has a clock mounted above the base in the same manner as a table model Predicta. The clock also swivels, like a Predicta picture tube.

It uses five tubes and receives the AM band.

The cabinet was available in ivory (shown at left) or ebony.

This model uses a four tube autodyne circuit, and has no IF amplification. It only receives the AM band.

The H829 was available in ivory or yellow.

Similar in appearance to the H829, the H830 uses a conventional five tube AM circuit.

The cabinet was made only in mahogany plastic.

Identical to the H830 except for cabinet colors, this model came in blue and ivory.

This five tube Philco model was available in two color combinations:

  • Ivory and Aqua
  • Pink and Black

Philco Model H836

This model uses the same circuitry as the H830, but includes two 4 inch speakers.

This model was available in three color combinations:

  • Ivory and Charcoal
  • Flame
  • Ivory and Aqua

Philco Model H838

This is basically an H765 without the clock. The radio uses five tubes and receives the AM band.

The H838 was only available in ivory.

A six tube AM radio that uses two 4 inch speakers and includes a high-low tone switch.

The cabinet was available in ivory and mahogany.


Philco Model H984

A very plain AM-FM table model radio, the H984 has separate round FM and AM dials on the left and right sides of the front panel.

This model uses eight tubes plus a selenium rectifier.

The cabinet was available in Aqua and Ebony.


Philco Model H1383

A portable monaural phonograph with a three speed motor and a one tube amplifier (with selenium rectifier), which had an output power of 1 watt.

A portable four-speed stereo phonograph which uses a two tube amplifier with a selenium rectifier.


Philco Model H1410

A portable phonograh which includes a four speed automatic record changer and a four tube amplifier with a 1 watt per channel output.

This model is similar in appearance to the H1416; for an open view, see the Model H1416 below.

The H1410 is gray in color.

Using the same amplifier as the H1385 above, this portable stereo phonograph includes a four speed automatic record changer.

Similar to the H1410 above, the H1416 was available in a black simulated alligator finish, or in saddle leather.

This portable stereo phonograph includes a five tube amplifier with separate bass and treble controls, and a four speed automatic record changer.

It has an audio output of 6 watts.

The cabinet is wood, covered in leatherette.

This floor model stereo phonograph uses the same amplifier as the H1418 above.

The wood cabinet was available with a mahogany, walnut or blonde finish.

Available in mahogany or walnut finishes, the H1617 is a stereo phonograph which uses five tubes with an output power of 6 watts per channel.

The set included two H-SS-39 4 inch speakers which could be used externally or inside the main cabinet. Two 6 inch speakers were also mounted inside the main cabinet.

Another stereo phonograph which uses the same amplifier as the H1418 above.

Like the H1616, the H1618 was also available with mahogany, walnut or blonde finishes.

The H1619 stereo phonograph uses the same five tube amplifier as model H1617.

Two 5-1/4 inch speakers and two 8 inch speakers are mounted in the H1619 cabinet. It also uses two 4 inch extension speakers, model H-SS-41 (not shown).

The cabinet was available in mahogany or maple.

Other than the contemporary walnut cabinet, this model is identical to the H1619 above.

This model uses one 12 inch woofer in the center of the cabinet, with a 4 inch midrange speaker and an electrostatic tweeter in each end for stereo reproduction.

The five tube amplifier offers 10 watts per channel, and separate bass and treble controls.

A four speed automatic record changer is used.

Left and right input jacks are provided so that an external tuner or other audio source may be used.

This model was available in either mahogany or blonde.

This phonograph model is made much like the H1714 above; it uses one 12 inch woofer mounted in the center front of the cabinet. A 5-1/4 inch midrange speaker and an electrostatic tweeter are mounted in each end of the cabinet.

A four speed automatic record changer is also used in this model.

The set uses an eight tube amplifier with one tube in the control unit, and the other seven in the main amplifier chassis. The service manual claims a total peak power of 40 watts per channel.

Accessory speakers, model H-SS-10, were available for this model.

The wood cabinet was available in three finishes: mahogany, maple, and California mahogany.

The H1814 uses nine tubes; one in the control unit and eight on the main amplifier chassis. It was advertised as producing 40 watts per channel.

A 12 inch woofer is mounted in the main cabinet, while two auxillary speaker cabinets (not shown), each of which contain a 2 x 10 inch midrange speaker and an electrostatic tweeter, are used for the left and right channels.

The unit also includes a four speed automatic record changer. Left and right input jacks are provided for a separate tuner or other audio source.

The wood cabinet was available with a mahogany, cherry, or walnut finish.

The wood cabinet was available in four finishes:

Philco Model H1916

This model uses two 12 inch woofers, which are mounted in the left and right sides of the main cabinet. Two auxillary speaker cabinets (not shown) each contain a 2 x 10 midrange speaker and an electrostatic tweeter.

The amplifier uses nine tubes; one in the control unit, with the other eight on the mainamplifier chassis. It produces 50 watts per channel.

A four speed automatic record changer is also included. Input jacks are provided for a tuner or other audio source to be used with this unit.

The cabinet was available in mahogany and provincial finishes.

This AM-FM monaural tuner could be used with the high fidelity phonographs above; the larger models of which had a space which this tuner was designed to fit into.

It uses seven tubes.

Similar to the RT-300 above, the RT-400 includes FM stereo reception. 10 tubes are used in this model.

Like the RT-300, the RT-400 was designed for use with the better 1960 model Philco high fidelty phonographs, which had a space which this tuner could be mounted into.

An accessory single channel amplifier which uses four tubes and includes a 6 inch speaker and a 4 inch speaker.

A four transistor, pocket-sized model with an earphone jack.

The plastic cabinet was available in two color combinations:

  • Ivory and Terra Cotta
  • Ivory and Turquoise

Philco Model TC-47

This model uses four transistors and a diode detector, and includes a Timex battery operated clock timer.

The set is enclosed in a leather case.


Philco Model T-50

A five transistor, pocket sized model which includes an earphone jack.

It was available in Aqua or Terra Cotta.


Philco Models T-50-126 & T-51

Both the T-50, Code 126, and the T-51 are similar to the T-50, Code 124 shown above.

The T-50 was available in Aqua or Terra Cotta. The color of the T-51 is currently not known.

Five transistors are used in the T-52. An earphone jack is also provided.


Philco Model TC-57

This model uses the same radio circuitry as the T-52 above, and adds a battery operated Westclox clock timer.

The entire set is housed in a leather case.


Philco Model T-60

This model uses six transistors and a diode detector. An earphone jack is also provided.

The metal handle doubles as a stand.

This set was available in two colors: Black, and Ivory/Gray.


Philco Model T-62

Similar to the T-60, the T-62 also uses six transistors and a diode detector. An earphone jack is included, and the metal handle can also be used as a stand for the radio.


Philco Model T-65

A six transistor model with a ferrite rod antenna built into the handle on top.

The plastic cabinet of the T-65 was available in two different color combinations:

  • Ivory and Turquoise
  • Ivory and Gold

A seven transistor, pocket sized radio with a metal handle that could be used as a stand for the radio.

This model uses seven transistors and has a cabinet with a plastic front and a leather back. An earphone jack is also included.

A transistor radio which is reminiscent of Philco's first transistor radio model (T-7), the T-75 also uses seven transistors and is built into a leather case with a metal front panel.


Philco Model T-76

Similar in appearance to model T-75, the T-76 includes a leather handle.

Like the T-75, the T-76 uses seven transistors and includes an earphone jack.


Philco Model T-78

This seven transistor model is enclosed in a leather case with a gold colored speaker grille and gold-finished handle.

Eight transistors are used in the T-802, along with an earphone jack.


Philco Model T-901

Nine transistors are used in the T-901, and the set also includes an earphone jack.


Philco Model T-1000

This six transistor AM table model follows the styling cues of the table model Predicta TV sets. It is somewhat similar in appearance to the H765 shown above. It includes a clock with two 4 inch speakers, with the speakers mounted on either side of the clock.

Like the H765, the T-1000 was available in Ebony or Ivory.
