I'm the antenna - doc612 - 06-07-2015

Okay, I just finished recapping a little four tube AM radio, Brand  name Meridian. Fired it up and I can barely hear the stations, but when I grab the antenna (cardboard back) it gets loud and clear. I mean great reception! So I hooked up a 25' wire to the external antenna loop and not a bit of help...what's going on?

Sounds like the ant trimmer needs to be adjusted. Set the dial to a station near the high end of the band. Follow the wire that goes the loop ant and terminated at the tuning condenser. Right next to that connection there is a adjustment screw. Adjust it for max volume.
