Philco 46-350 Dead - radiodale - 08-26-2016

I rebuilt the electrolytic and fired it up. Volume was low and sound distorted. Tested all tubes. For a while plate and screen voltages were correct, but now they measure 120V! Where to start? Can this be a problem with the AC/battery switch?

Clean AC/Battery sw and check R-12.

Flushed switch with Deoxit. R12 checks OK. No change.

Thank you

Update...

Talked w/ Dale on the phone to find that he have a bad connection in the filament circuit. With the filaments not conducting there is no load on the HV supply that's why the HV  was too high.

After cleaning up the tube sockets it was sort of working. It also had a very leaky .004 coupling cap at the audio output tube's control grid. After replacement it working much better.
