B&K 600 tube tester restoration - madrescuer - 10-18-2016

I was recapping the Tube tester and was having some difficulty finding a 5uf 250v electrolytic capacitor. I have a 8uf 450 volt electrolytic. Is this an acceptable substitute?
Thanks in advance!

It depends where it is in the circuit.

(might be OK, depends where in circuit)

If it really is 8uf (test it) then it will probably be fine. The tolerance on the old electrolytics was something like -30% to +80%.
Most of the high-compliance parts in old testers are marked. If it is one of these marked parts find a close match.
