Is there a list of mfg. changes for this set? I'm running into resistor and cap values different from schematic values. Also have caps in set that are not shown on the diag. Ken

Hi Ken

That Bulletin issued for "Model 89 Code 123" wasn't published until September 1935, which was well into the 1936 season, by which time the 89 had rectangular tube shields instead of the old round ones, and the "Universal" bakelite blocks instead of the earlier type.

The change to "Code 123" (adding the "police" band and a band switch) occurred three months into production of the 89, on March 15, 1933. Between then and September 1935, several changes were made yet it remained Code 123. Pretty typical of Philco to do things like that.

I have "Changes In Models" sheets showing changes to various models, including Model 89. I'll try to scan those for you tomorrow. If I forget, kindly remind me. OK? Icon_smile

Thanks, Ron. I did find some info on your site, the 89 schematic with notes about the 36/77 osc tube I had not seen before. This explained the component value changes. It's intresting to know the changes that took place on sets like this, an insight on problems they had back then. I would appreciate that 'Changes in Models' info when you can get to it. Ken

Windows XP has the ability to extract .ZIP files built-in. Barring that, there is a free solution at

Adobe Reader, required to read the file, is also free and available at

I'm really not up on this type thing at all. When I click the url, something downloads, but I don't know where it goes. My dnload manager says it finished, but I wasn't asked where to put it. Do I have to use the pop up WINZIP in any way? I tried using it, but really don't know how it works.
