I scored this at the Early Television Foundation's annual convention. The CRT looks good. There are power supply issues, but I think this will be an easy restoration.

Oh my! Very nice! I don't see any of the 'cataracting' I have on my 23 inch RCA New Vista and have seen on other RCA color sets. Only thing keeping me from using mine.

I think mine has a 21FBP22 (no bonded safety glass). The RCA style cataract can be fixed. A heat gun and a very hot day is necessary.
I tried reforming the lytics today. They are toast. I did conclude this model was one of the last roundies Philco made.

Ok, I will have to try that when I feel braver. I have a heat gun and Ohio can get plenty hot and humid in the summer.

Actually there is a guy on You Tube (shango066) that fixes up a lot of Packard Bell TVs who figured out that you can get the safety glass to unbond by soaking the face of the tube in a bathtub or a bucket of water for a few weeks. It's slow but at least it isn't as dangerous as the heat method.

I have it working on the test rig. There was a shorted lytic, which in turn, took out a resistor. All the other lytics ended up reforming to my satisfaction.
All I have to do now is resolder the pins on the CRT base , then remove and clean the tube and safety glass. Pics will come very soon.
AS for the water and heat gun method of delaminating safety glasses, it will only work on RCA based tubes. It won't have any effect on the green halo found on Zenith tubes (the heat gun will crack the safety glass).

Ah. I would still like to find another good tube for my RCA before trying anything. Local TV shop supposedly had two left when I got this set. We looked through eveything and couldn't find them. Looked through thier records and we finally realized a dealer/collector from New York had bought them up with other old CRTs the year before. Drat! Anyways, hope we get to see pictures of your set up and going soon!

IT'S DONE
I discovered one of the filament wires on the crt broken off near the stem. I made a replacement and the tube looks good. After putting it on the round tube, just as Archie was about to give Meathead the raspberry, the picture bloomed. The HV rectifier (3AW2) was toast. I replaced it with a 3BT2 and now all is well. Here is a pic of good ole Archie.
