Volume control, Model 16 - dsligar - 06-09-2012

I'm restoring a Model 16 and need a good volume control / switch. This Code 125 model has a 2 meg pot with two wipers(!) Apparently one of the wipers goes to the bass compensation resistor / cap, and it appears to be inverse to the main wiper. This is probably a well discussed issue -- anyone have a good solution? Thanks!!!

Well, gotta get a capacitor in line with the output stage, and the more you cut it off with lower values, more treble. Larger coupling favors bass response to a point. If the tone pot is partially open. might be the case.

Anybody know where to get a replacement pot? Only other thing I can think of would be to use a dual pot -- 1 meg would probably be OK -- with a switch.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

You could use one that is tapped. It acts as a loudness control. Give a bit bass boost at low volume.
