model 76 or 77 - murf - 09-23-2012

Hi guy's,
Anyone know of a good way to distinguish the difference between a model 76 and a model 77 chassis?
Thanks

The 76 has a local-distance switch (two position) on the right (when looking at the chassis from its front), with the volume control on the left.

The 77 has a four-point tone control on the left, with the volume control on the right.

The 76 uses a large speaker socket with the four pins spread far apart.

The 77 uses a smaller speaker socket with the pins closer together, much like a 4-pin tube socket except it has three large pins and one small pin.

Both use 7 tubes.

Hey,thank Ron for the speedy reply.
Now I know.
Any idea why I would get a little motor boating when I crank up the volume?
This has not been re-capped yet, but seems to work pretty good considering.
Have a great day.
