1941 Escutcheon screws - Raleigh - 06-04-2007

There are 8 brass screws around the escutcheons on my 41-250 and 41-280. The finish is dark and dull, almost black. I'm not sure whether this is natural tarnish or if they deliberately had a dark finish. Does anyone know if those screws were bright brass when the sets were new?

I need to replace one or two of them. If they were originally bright, then I might just replace them all with new, bright brass screws and coat them with lacquer so they won't tarnish quickly.

If they were intended to be darker, then I might need to darken the new screws so they don' t stand out too much.

Hi

The finish should be dark, not bright brass by any means. Just like the early Philco brass escutcheons which were intentionally darkened, never bright brass.
