42-PT-91 Dial cord - gpitman1 - 07-25-2013

Last week I acquired a 42-PT-91 for $30. All caps and tubes are original.
When I took it apart I realized that the dial cord broke in two pieces and need to be re-strung.
I have spent close to 12 hours looking for diagrams and trying to re-string it on my own before I get into replacing caps and polishing a cabinet.

I looked at probably a dozen of places but can't find a string diagram for this radio Icon_sad

Perhaps someone has a diagram or has the very radio and can take pictures of how the cord is positioned.

Thanks in advance.

My list of string diagrams doesn't include the PT-91. Nor can I find a picture of it on the Philco Radio Gallery. Is it a portable, like the PT-88? I have a 41-81T, which looks similar to the PT-88, and has the knobs in the same place. If there is any similarity I'd be glad to open it up and take a look at the dial string.

If your PT-91 is very different from the 41-81T, then obviously my suggestion won't work.

Alternatively, you could ask Chuck Schwark if he has a Philco service package for this model. It will almost certainly include a string diagram. Chuck charges a small fee for these documents, but they are well worth it. http://www.philcorepairbench.com/schematics.htm

Thank you for your reply. I shall try ordering a service package for this radio.

Though it is not a large radio, I do not believe it is portable. I think that if it was portable it would not have a power cord attach, though I am new to this and might very well be wrong. Icon_lol

Also seems that the knobs on mine are positioned differently from yours.
On an unrelated note 42-PT-91 looks very similar to 48-200, though my eyes might be failing me Icon_mrgreen
Thanks!

42-PT91:

Obviously, it isn't a portable radio although it is rather small.

The 46-200 is identical in appearance:

and the 48-200 is similar, but the dial scale is different:
