No ads allowed? Permit me this one :)

I saw this on ebay, one of those people selling magazine pages. It think its from Cuba.

The text says:

Its tone is so perfect I realized it was a Philco.

Yes, and the program was coming from a foreign station. This Philco is very powerful.

Ask for a free demonstration and you will see why there are more than 7 million Philco owners.

I don't recognize the model.

Hi Bill

"No ads allowed" means "Do not advertise something for sale in this section - that's what the Philco For Sale Or Trade section is for." :)

Your old ad picture is quite appropriate, I assure you.

The radio pictured is a 1936 Model 116X console.

Thanks for sharing with us! :D

Got it, Ron

Here's a QSL from the Philco station in Cuba in the 30s.

and one from Venezuela in the same era...

Question:
Most of the manufacturers, even some weenie ones, had their own station in the US. It dawns on me that I can't recall hearing of a Philco station. Maybe I'm having a major senior moment. Was there one?

I have never seen anything to document Philco ever owning a radio station in the US.

They did own and operate a TV station - W3XE, which later became WPTZ - in Philadelphia for many years.

Interesting that Philco would own, or otherwise be somehow connected, with radio stations in Cuba and Venezuela, but not in the USA.
