RE: Calculate Needed Filament Resistor - dconant - 02-07-2026

Got the 8uF cap installed along with a CL90. Trying to do an alignment but when I connect the gen to the grid cap of the 6A7 I get a loud buzz. Same if grid wire is connected or not. I have a .01 cap between the gen and the grid cap as well as between the ground connection to the chassis. Any idea what causes that? Radio plays but there is a lot of static like picking up distance stations when tuned to a strong local station. This is not electronic noise. Antenna coil seems good having three coils with continuity.

Thanks,
Dan

You should use isolation transformer for either your radio or the generator.
Only one of them should be plugged in the transformer.
You cannot connect them directly with the AC/DC raidos.

Radio is plugged into iso and gen into wall.

Usually when this happens, it means you did not connect the Grounds together.
Recheck the connection.
