1954 RCA 6RF9 AM FM Tube Table Radio -

Hello everyone,
So, there is a guy, yeah most stories start like this but...
theres a guy doing a lot of tv and radio resurrections...not restoring... just plain resurrections.
He recently fired up an RCA 6RF9 set,, this thing had a hela nice tuning cap but what surprised me was the condition of the oem caps.
long story short,, this guy has as much if not more experience than many people here doing this line of work and i wondered what everyone else thought about this vid and his opinion. He clearly stated this is the very best table top radio he has ***EVER*** ran across.
thoughts? I was seeing him tune in far away FM and AM stations he *never* gets on any other radio even modern day ones.
ps.. all the radios i have resurrected and restored to life and put back to work again could not have been possible without the great guys here who know way more than i will ever know about this tech. I appreciate you all!.
here is the link to the particular radio and be amazed that it needed basically nothing to get going again!

I think someone mentioned 1-R-81, also a Livingston, when I discussed my Zenith 7-H-920 restoration.
It was a similar cabinet design, with that center round dial. Some Zeniths of the same chassis (or close) came with these two arrows across the speaker.
Similar tuning in the center arrangement. Large speaker.
6-RF-9 has one more FM circuit, so has to be better than the 1-R-81.
As for the best tabletop radio...well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

well,, i dont really like the look but i am a utility type. if its a great performer,, then it has something other sets dont and thats worth it in my eyes. I like putting old forgotten things back to work and enjoying them and always being able to count on them to function. I do this with a lot of things on my youtube channel called I Fix It All.

At least when it comes to radios, most of us do it for the same reason.
