In the scheme of Philco 80 jr is the value of the potentiometer 20 kOhm. 

In the radio that I have the value of 10 kOhm. 

This value of 10 kOhm can be valid?. 

I'll be posting photos in the right places, but advance one.

Your volume pot was replaced at some point in the past. It's in series between the antenna and antenna coil.  You'll just have less ability to lower the volume.
