Philco model 116b Tombstone cabinet refinish
#1

Finished up this week a 116 b tall tombstone. This radio sure did need it, the grill was coming apart like a potato chip and was missing some veneer. Not one of my favorite jobs fixing it. Well its a good now and will look super once its all put back together, I'm not doing that the owner of this fine Philco is doing all the electrical work himself. I toned the sides and front L&R columns extra dark walnut but not too dark still allowing to see the wood grain. I have seen so many different color combos out there. I hope this is correct in the color for this model. The old original finish what was left of it gave me the clues on how this should look, not to dark and not to light and not black like some I've seen Im thinking it was done dark enough to hide some of the plain poplar wood veneer that was chosen for this cabinet , the grain does look nice for a plain old veneer. The inside looked black from factory so I sanded and cleaned it up and repainted black. New correct Philco decal from Radio Daze looks nice. Thanks for looking Fred Taylor Garland Tx  Icon_eek
