philco 112 questions
#1

.pdf File.PDF Size: 1.11 MB  Downloads: 229
ok I am working on my model 112-A with two 47's and i have a question it may seem dumb, but the condenser can part number 3489 from what i have read terminal 6 is grounded to the chassis and not to the can itself. what difference would it make if I chose not to rebuild the can and relocate the capacitors it looks to me that all the caps are grounded anyway as it looks in the drawing. it looks to me the better way is to rebuild the can this is just a question

Benny, I merged the two 112 threads together. We like to keep a single thread for the same radio, it helps folks especially in the future when looking back at questions on a particular radio.

Don't know if this will help answer your cap block question but its an annotated schematic that Ron Ramirez prepared and is found in our library: See Model 112 (late) https://philcoradio.com/library/index.ph...chematics/

nothing there about the dial cord

you are correct, I have not found anything describing the dial strining but hopefully someone with a 112 will be able to help you out.

Does this help? Its a 112X.

That's the cleanest photo of the cord routing that I've seen. I have heard of braided nylon fishing line of about 40 pound strength being used. I haven't personally. If anyone has how did it work out for you? I think I would take the dial off when re-stringing. Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

Benny, this is what I use for Philco dial cords   1.7mm 400lb made with Kevlar BLACK Braid Speargun Band Constrictor Cord 30ft | eBay    I have used it for a 118 and an 89, worked perfectly for both. The 89 was a very similar setup to your 112.
