Restoring Philco 96
#46

Oh wow! Just found this thread.  Brings me back to early days on this phorum.  I did a 96 back in 2017.  Thread here:

Radio works good and actually seems to have a better high frequency response than some of my early superhets. Probably because the TRF tuning is less selective.

Thanks for the nostalgia, Mike!

I have eventually replaced the speaker and shot the video, which only shows the upper part of the dial as the hum is very strong at the lower part.

I will eventually move it out of the workshop: we have bulk pickup on 16 and I am counting on getting rid of a projection TV and freeing up some space.

Nice one!

And, after applying some knowledge in walking a radio console across some steps and using furniture as fulcrums to roll a radio console over instead of moving furniture to create a passage, I was able to set the set (no pun intended) in its place, which until last Friday belonged to the defunct projection TV, which took me two evenings too take apart, load in my Jeep and take to the dump site.
And! I have one more place for one more console!

Good evening, Mike:

This one sure did turn out to be impressive! Very well done! Sounds as though you had quite the struggle to move it into its final resting place.

Well, it's heavy and I am 64.
So it required some ergonomic thinking, which, luckily, I have. Icon_lol
