Found a 625 today
#1

Don't know if I paid too much for it but I don't think its in all that bad of condition. One electrolytic was replaced at one time I think, $55

I think you did very well indeed for $55. Icon_thumbup

So what is the difference between a 625 chassis and a 620? The wavelengths covered? I noticed that like a 620 it doesn't have a shadowmeter like a 630 would.

It doesn't have a power transformer either, it's the AC/DC version of the 620.

So take the usual isolation transformer
precautions and procedures with this hot-chassis set.

This isn't an AC/DC set, it uses a small, low profile power transformer. You can (barely) see the top of it to the left, behind the 80 tube, in Jim's second photo.

Arran, the 620 and 625 cover the same frequencies. There are differences in the circuitry, chiefly in the AVC circuit. The 625 also has a moving shadow mask behind the dial scale, with three holes that allow the greatest illumination only to the band in use.
