Just won one of these table model radio / phonograph's on eBay. Looks to be in exceptional shape, and the price was right. Both radio & phono are working, which is a plus. Now if the seller only follows my advice for packaging and shipping it so that it arrives in one piece. That's always the gamble with eBay, as so many of you already know. Fingers crossed!

Well, good luck to you, Greg. I hope it arrives safely.

A few weeks ago, an eBay seller sent me a very poorly packed Philco 52C that arrived, literally, in pieces. He had the nerve to get UPS to send me a refund. He should have refunded me out of his own pocket. It isn't right that he gets to keep the $$ I sent him and UPS had to pay for his lack of packing skills. I guess they don't inspect damaged packages anymore as he filed a claim and they sent me a check, no questions asked.

And today, a big 38-2670B empty cabinet arrived. The nimrod wrapped it in some cardboard and sent it on its way to me - no packing whatsoever! And to top it all off, the cabinet was shipped upside down within its thin cardboard covering. Amazingly, it made it here without damage. It's unbelievable to me that it did not get damaged.

I feel fairly confident this one will arrive in one piece. The seller, after seeing my detailed message to him about packing, responded with his phone number, and we had a nice conversation. He explained exactly how he was packing it per my instructions, and even told me he secured the tone arm down, which usually people overlook when shipping a phonograph. I'll know by the weekend what shows up on my doorstep. Not many sellers would go to that much trouble, as you know. They're more interested in getting the cash and then it's your baby!
