Philco 38-40 tuning knobs

I am having a problem in removing the tuning knobs on a Philco 38-40 radio. There is an outside knob and an inside knob. The outside knob is for quick tuning and the inside knob is for fine tuning of the station. There doesn't appear to be any set screws on either knob. The outer knob will pull forward some but seems to be held on by the inner knob which won't budge. Also there is no good way to hold on to the inner knob to pull it off. The knobs are both bakelite, could the inner knob be threaded on the shaft?

Both knobs just pull straight off. your's are stuck. You may try spraying some wd-40 between the two knobs. Pull harder.

Hi Terry

I took your advice and used the solvent, along with some heat from my heat gun and a little prying with a screwdriver they popped off with no damage.
