In my opinion the 38-116 sounds a shade better than both of the 37-116 sets I have. This is NOT to say that the 37 models are lacking anything in this department. I believe that the larger cabinet of the 38 model is the reason for this....

Hey Tom , my 38-116xx has a back cover on it and given the size of cabinet makes it a big big speaker cabinet.
