Philco 20 Help
#1

Hi All,

I am currently working on a Philco 20 which was in pretty bad shape. Most of it is finished except for some veneer replacement on the sides. These pieces are about 1/4" wide by about 5" long. Could anybody please tell me the type of wood used on the side of the cabinet? Is veneer patching a viable option or would I have to replace all of the veneer. Mind you I am not an expert wood worker but I do alright (most of the time).

Thanks
Terry

The veneer on the top and sides of Model 20 Baby Grand was originally American Black Walnut per Philco Furniture History.

Thanks for the information Ron. I guess I'll try see what I can come up with.

Thanks again

Forgot to mention that veneer patching is done quite often when pieces of veneer are missing from cabinets. So, yes, it's a viable option.

Ron;
I just thought I'd stop by and check in and let you know I'm back and still alive. Thanks for asking.
