Philco "116PX Television" from 1936
#1

It seems that in 1936, Philco was demo-ing television using a projection system built in a modified 116PX cabinet.

I found this photo in an article of Radio News, Nov. 1936, page 266, on americanradiohistory.com.

Are any of these known to have survived?

(Edit: Corrected cabinet from 680 to 116PX.)

Old news.

As to whether any survived, it is very doubtful but who knows?

Thanks, Ron!

I thought it was a 680 cabinet. Searching for 116PX instead, I also found this interesting article about the, "First televised sports interview."

It's also not a projection set, those operate differently with a small CRT, lenses, etc. This is more similar in operation and layout to an RCA TRK 12 in which you viewed the screen indirectly from a mirror, I don't know whether they reversed the polarity of the yoke coils or deflection plates though.
