Model 96
#1

Hi Everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I would show my latest find. I've picked up a model 96, and just wondered if anyone had any tips/suggestions on what are common issues with these models. Also, I know that this model had a grille cloth that was a falling leaf pattern. I've heard it's hard to find. Anyone know of a place you can get one? I looked at http://www.grillecloth.com and didn't see one there.

Hi

Unfortunately, that "falling leaves" pattern is one of the cloths that never was - and probably never will be - reproduced.

A Model 20 type cloth would be better than nothing; it would be basically the same, but without the leaves.

I haven't seen a reproduction of that pattern as yet, thought there may be a suitable substitute. I also have a model 96 and the grille cloth is even worse then yours, the mice ate it long before I got a hold of it, it is also missing the tube shield from the back of the chassis and two of the knobs, the small and one of the medium ones. Take a walk through some fabric stores, particularly through a type of fabric called Jacquard, Jacquards often used leaf and floral motifs in the weave. If the fabric is some other colour other then an earth tone it can always be dyed.

As always thanks guys. I guess I'll have to get creative on this one. Overall, the set is in really nice condition, aside from that fact that it seemed to be a popular target among pigeons for quite a few years Icon_biggrin
