Tube Shield Finish
#1

Does anyone know what the original finish was on the square tube shields used on 620's and 630's? Were they plated like the chassis?

Mine are in pretty rough shape, and I want to make them look original.

Thanks,
Derek

The original finish was a shiny metal, but turns very dull over the years. Occasionally I see some tube shields that have managed to retain their original shine and the difference is quite astounding, frankly.

I thought they were supposed to be shiny. Must have been some type of plating. Maybe nickel?

I have some that have retained most of their original non-corroded finish and they are a bright nickel/zinc type plating. I would think a spray finish that was fine aluminum or had a nickel type appearance would be ok. Some of mine are faded/corroded not from water exposure but probably from being handled, anything close would look better.

Spray 'em with bright aluminum paint... Icon_twisted
