Help looking for a grill cloth
#1

        [attachment=20169]

I'm looking for a replacement grill cloth for my Philco Lowboy Model 89. If anyone has suggestions for vendors, I'd appreciate the help. Attached is a photo of the original and it's unique design. Thanks in advance. Denny

Hi,

I dont think you are going to find an exact match, but here are two which are close:

Hello Ron, Thanks for your help, the first eBay listing looks very similar. I'll check it out. Thanks again, Denny

I wonder if that is the original cloth that came on the 89 B as well. Icon_question

Hi Jake, I doubt if the grill cloth is the same on the lowboy and the cathedral. The reason I say that is because if you google the 89B you'll see that most of them have a very fine pattern in a light gold cloth. One of the best photos is here on this site. The grill cloth off my 89 lowboy, which I believe was original, is more of a herringbone design much like the one Ron pointed out for sale on eBay, earlier in this thread. Denny

It isn't.

There are several different versions of the 89B.

https://philcoradio.com/library/index.ph...-model-89/

The first three cathedral cabinets shown use what is commonly known as "70/90" grille cloth because it is the same pattern used in model 70 and 90 cathedrals.

Exact duplicates of this cloth are no longer available. Close substitutes:

The June 1934 version used a diamond pattern similar to this:

Note that the green stripes should be vertical, not horizontal.

And the final version (January 1936) used what is commonly known as "Ribbed" cloth. A close substitute:
