Need help with a 37-62 Antenna transformer
#1

Hello, New to the site.

I'm trying to fix a Philco 37-62 and I found the antenna transformer part #32-2446 has a burned out primary. Looks like a lightning strike or someone hooking up a power supply instead of signal generator.

At any rate the coil is toasted and I need some help trying to re-wind it. I've read the advise about unwinding and counting turns but the coil just fell apart in chunks. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome,

This is what I would do. The primary isn't part or the tuned circuit it's just there for coupling. The number of turns isn't particularly critical. One of the thing we do know is that it's 25 ohms which works out to 25' of #40ga wire. That should get you close to what you had. If we didn't know the resistance I would measure the diameter of the coil and rewind it to the same size.

GL with your new project!
