Philco 3650/650 Tuning Mechanism
#1

Hello, I need to dismantle the tuning mechanism in my 3650 (Canadian). I have removed the dial screen but can't figure out how to remove the shadow screen. The picture shows how far I have gone. Also the band selector has a set screw (red circle) that seems to be fused in place. Tried Liquid Wrench having no luck.

Thanks,
Dan

Perhaps this will help  Dial Drive Rebuilding – Models 116, 640, 643, 645, 650, 651, 655, 660, 665 – Philco Library (philcoradio.com) Some set screws can be tough to remove. A good fitting screwdriver is a must with straight blade not rounded on the corners. You can try holding a hot soldering tip on the offending screw. I'm pretty sure that the part is mostly pot metal so if you want to use a torch be careful not to melt it.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!

Thanks Terry. The link was just what I needed. I'll give the hot soldering iron a try.

Just as I thought I am missing the dial pointer shield. Any idea where I can get one. Did not find one at Radio Daze. Mine would have 4 arrows.
