Town and Country
#16

The only issues I have with alot of the tube sets from the mid 50's on are those circuit boards they used. My friend had a late 60's set die recently because of that. He went to replace a couple suspect tubes and the board just crumbled. Icon_sad Now the 60's Zenith sets are fairly rugged and durable, but watch the convergence rings on the color sets!

No matter where you go, there you are.

This set is from the early 60s and the boards are in good condition Icon_smile

That's a plus. Just make sure that can get plenty of ventilation. Let that baby breath! Hopefully Philco put in good ventilation on the back. Some sets I have seen were almost sealed and that didn't work too well. I like that set's looks though. Really neat. Friend had a Zenith set that looked about like that. Icon_smile

I did some final tweaking and put the set back together.

I sprayed some semi-gloss black on the cabinet and silver paint on the trim. I'd still love to find a better cabinet someday but at least it's somewhat presentable now.

Nice job Bob it looks great for a busted up cabinet. Hopefully someday a cabinet will come along for it.

Man, that TV has a rather crisp picture on it compared to my 47 GE television! Shows how far along things had come by that time. Hope you get to enjoy that set for many years to come!

Bandersen, I have realy enjoyed your progress on that poor old TV. I was amazed at the quality of the picture. Hope you get another project to start on real quick and share with us. Maybe I will get the nerve to start on the old 1948 Admiral that has been setting in my garage for years while I work on radios.

Oh don't worry. I have plenty of projects to work on. Next, I need to wrap up my Philco 15DX then I have five Predicta TVs to restore!
