Philco 70 Resistor
#1

Restoring a Philco Model 70 (Below B-22,000). Resistor (33) on parts list says 100,000 ohms (white, white, orange). Installed in two separate chassis I have is a 45,000 ohm (yellow, green, orange) resistor. Several other photos on internet of chassis all have same 45,000 ohm resistor installed. What is correct value? Should I leave the 45,000 ohm resistor installed or replace it?

I believe we are talking about resistor 30. A note on the schematic states Early production: 100,000 Ohms, Later production: 45,000 Ohms. http://www.philcoradio.com/tech/images/70a.jpg

Thanks Steve. That solves the problem. Your schematic is not from Nostalgia Air which is what I was using. Where did you obtain the schematic? If you have the parts identification list that goes with this schematic, I would greatly appreciate that.

Thanks again

Dan, go to http://www.philcoradio.com/ or click "Home" near the top of this page. Our Phorum administrator Ron Ramirez has provided lots of useful information on Philco radios. Also check with Chuck Schwark at The Philco Repair Bench http://www.philcorepairbench.com/ Chuck has a service information pack with a very clear schematic that is well worth the $7

You can get clear schematic and parts listing info from Chuck Schwark at http://www.philcorepairbench.com/schematics.htm

In the meantime see: http://www.philcoradio.com/tech/images/70a.jpg for early models and http://www.philcoradio.com/tech/images/70b.jpg for later ones.
