Value of cap is not listed???
#1

I am working on a Philco model 650 and I find two caps that are not listed .
I would like to know the values of them.. They are Philco caps and the number of both of them is 30-4024S. the parts list does not show them. I think someone had replaced the original ones with this number.
They go from the speaker plug to ground.
Thanks Dan

Philco Repair Bench shows 30-4024 as 0.006uF.

Thanks Bob, I thought that was the value by the schematics. I find that the Philco schematics are a lot harder to read than some of the others. I know it just takes time to learn, but that is what this forum is all about
Thanks Dan

I checked my supply of caps and I have a .022@1600 volts and a .05@1000 volts.. I think that the .05 is too large, but could I use the .022 in place of the .006? Dan

They are on the USA 650 schematic - parts (86) and (87). Original part no. 30-4125, .006 uF. 30-4024 may be replacements for 30-4125?

Do not use .05 or .022 uF. Anything larger than .0068 uF will adversely affect the tone (cut the highs). Use .0047 or .0068 uF, 1000 volts.

For Philcos between 1928 and 1947 you can get very clear and complete documentation from Chuck Schwark's Philco Repair Bench site for just a few bucks.

Thank you for the information.. I have ordered the documentation from Chuck.
