Philco 6S306 Record changer problems

The rubber portion of the coupling between the motor and the changer is deteriorated.  I am thinking about replacing the rubber pieces with some reinforced rubber pieces.   Has anyone run into this problem and completed a repair?  Here is a picture of the coupling.
