Will it work?
#1

Hello everyone.  I acquired a Philco 46-1203 a few years back, and am now considering this as a Spring project.  This unit has a D-10 78rpm turntable.  I would like to replace this turntable with a M-20 three speed turntable so I can play 331/3, 45, and 78 rpm records.  I know many of you will consider me a heretic for this; purposely building a FrankenPhilco.  My reasoning is I don't have unlimited space, would like to have a representation of a table top radio/record player, and don't want to be limited to a one speed changer.  My question is ... Will the M-20 changer be a drop-in fit for the D10, and will the pick up compliment the radio chassis?  Thank you in advance for the help.  Take care and BE HEALTHY!   Gary

I've seen 46-1203 sets in the past - even owned one at one time - but I don't recall the dimensions of the D-10 as opposed to an M-20. If they are of similar size and the M-20 fits, I say go for it. Icon_thumbup Such "upgrades" were commonly done after 33-1/3 and 45 rpm records became commonly available. This is why we often find older console radio-phonographs with newer changers inside. (I know the 46-1203 is a tabletop, not a console.)

Service info for both are available in the Library.
