OSCILLATOR
#1

My set philco 111 . Will quit receving anything . So i decided to check oscillator plate voltage good 65 volts . decided to check other voltages
touched wire from oscillator plate to osillator coil started working . It will play for hours turn off have to do this almost every time.
I left cover off so i can touch this connection . What do you think strange i know . But this set has been a pain from the get go. Icon_mad
Any ideas Thanks Kent.

Possibilities and things to try:
Bad tube cap maybe. Try a known good tube.
Have you re-capped the set?
Bad tube socket.
Bad/cold solder joint.
Bad cap or resistor no replaced.
Intermittant continuity in the osc coil. (VERY common for Philco coils to be open due to corrosion in trhe windings or right at the solder lugs.)
#3

The coil form could also have moisture in it.

Also check your oscillator tube, a type 27.

Chuck has already mentioned the most likely possibility: intermittent continuity in the oscillator coil, which calls for a rewind.
