radio repair in Michigan or Ohio
#1

Anyone out there that repairs old tube radios in the Michigan Ohio area. I am in the process of redoing my basement and have all of my tools, tubes, and such put away so I can do the call of duty on my basement that was still living in the 60's when I was transferred from Georgia to Michigan.  I picked up a Philco 47-1230 locally and figured I would get it freshened since the owner said it had been serviced but his grandkids were playing with the buttons and it doesn't work as well as it used to.  Cabinet is in great shape and it still has the original rear cover.  After my wife passed away and I retired catching a house built in the 60's back into close to the modern times has tied up my days.

These folks here may be able to assist you.

I would caution you about plugging in that set, it is from 1947 9 tubes and a fairly hefty power transformer, a fault with internal components could fry the transformer, tubes, etc, making it much harder to repair. Paul B.

I have a "dim bulb tester" and a variable regulated power supply so I could safely power the radio chassis up but now my time is tied up with other projects such as an outdated basement that is more work than I thought it would be.  Originally I thought it was a 46-1209 and I have a rebuilt 46-1209 chassis that I could install but when I picked it up it was a 47-1230 which is a nice surprise since it has the AM/SW and a modern FM option.  I download the service data and schematics for it but all my equipment is boxed up and set aside in my basement.   I will check out the expo since it isn't that far away.
