Hi Vinser,
Sorry for the long delay in response, I did not see this. I have several A-Ks including an AK 40, AK35, 30, 20 and 10. These sets are designed for a long wire antenna. Are you using a period loop or one from a more modern radio? Are signals above 700KHz as strong as with a long wire antenna? Have you tried rotating the loop? (Loops are rather highly directional.) You can't just connect the loop to the antenna and ground terminals, I think that this won't be enough to drive the antenna transformer that is in the set. You could try disconnecting the 1st RF coil and connecting the loop directly to the cap and grid of the 1st RF tube, but since this is a 1 dial set, the tuning may not track. I am using a 3 foot tuned loop ant with a 1turn pickup loop it can rotated. on most radios it works great on the low end of the band . it work good above 700kc on this the model 37 but two stations that are strong are very weak . I am having some work done on my house when it done i will put up a long wire ant and see if that works any better.
