NEW MEMBER QUESTION
#1

Icon_confused: HELLO EVERYONE.I LOVE OLD RADIOS AND HAVE FOUR I WANT TO RESTORE.2 PHILCOS AND 2 CROSLEYS.I HAD BASIC ELECTRONICS IN HIGH SCHOOL MANY MOONS AGO AND MIGHT REMENBER ENOUGH TO BE DANGEROUS.I STARTED ON MY 1942 CROSLEY FIRST BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE THE LEAST DIFFICULT.PLANNED ON REPLACING THE CAPS BUT THE INSULATION ON MOST OF THE MAIN WIRING HAS DETERIOATED AND FLAKED OFF.SHOULD I REPLACE IT ALL OR TRY TO REINSULATE IT WITH PIPING ?LOOKS LIKE A PAIN IN THE NECK.THANKS

Some people will snip one end and use heat shrink tubing, others will replace the wiring piece by piece. I guess that all depends on your level of patience. This is the dreaded rubber wire, on some wires the insulation is ok on others the wire is bare, in that case replace what is needed and don't disturb the other wires and they should be ok.
