37-620 Restoration
#1

While waiting on parts, I tried painting a tube shield. Then it occurred to me that the paint prevents a good ground through the holding clamps. Is this an issue? How do you guys handle this? Just not paint the bottom where the clamp is?

tks, Vic

It is Krylon Rust Protector Metallic Finish - Satin Nickel. Oh boy. Am I asking for problems? I cant find any specs. on heat. They have a high heat aluminum - but you have to sign over your mortgage to buy a can... plus I still wonder about the shield not being properly grounded through the paint. What were they originally coated with?

Vic, I have used krylon with good results. I do mask off the very base to assure a good ground.

The shields were originally tin plated.

I have found that the Krylon Satin Nickel does conduct. I've sprayed some shields with Satin Nickel and not had any issues of the shields losing their effectiveness.
