A Big Thanks To All Involved
#1

Johnny has been debugging this radio for many, many hours and days and even weeks now. One of you stepped in (Raleigh) and said check continuity on pin 7 of the 1st IF 7B7 tube. That pin was floating, not connected to anything. Set sings like a bird now.

So a big thanks to all of you who helped me get through this thing. The Philco 41-285. This is my nephews first radio and I kinda let him run with the ball on it. But it's my fault because I rang this circuitry out many times and didn't catch that ungrounded pin 7.

Thanks again for all the help,

Johnny

P.S. Why don't we have one of these "emoticons" that has egg all over its face? I sure would put it next to my name today.

We could all use one of those "egg on face" emoticons for some nagging little problem we never thought to check for!

Sometimes it just needs a second pair of eyes to look at the problem. That's what we all find here. I am amazed at the things I have missed that another kind contributor spots instantly, and replies to my questions (when they should be working.) The knowledgebase is really impressive. I always contribute when I feel I can.
