38 38 dial lamp
#1

What dial lamp to use in a 38 38t Chuck site doesn't have a number of a lamp for it should be 2.1 volt .12 amps.
#2

Use a 48 or 49 depending on the base. 222 penlite bulb is fine if you have a screw in socket. Current isn't critical as it's in parallel w/the A battery.

A 49 lamp is the half current of the original lamp would it be bright enough?
#4

Typically the lamps chosen for the least amount of current as it would deplete the A battery. If you think the 49 is too dim use a led, less current a plenty bright.

Thanks I ordered a 49 not sure 2 volts would light a led.

I have not found any white led that are less than 3.2 volts I hope the #49 works ok if not might try #43 its 2.5 volts @ .35 amps.
#8

The #49 lamp was ok but it burned out after 2 or 3 hours so I tried a Christmas tree bulb out of a 100 string set it is brighter than the #49 was.
#9

We are not talking about the miniature Christmas lights are we? If so, it would not be a good idea. This type bulb has a shunt that shorts the bulb when it burns out.

That's what I used it won't short at 2 volts needs a higher voltage it gets when burns out it gets full line voltage across it of 120 volts.
