Bakelite block condensers
#1

Rebuilding bakelite blocks and got one (4989E) with a resistor in it.
What type/wattage resistor will suffice?

Carbon?
Wirewound?

1/4 watt?
1/2 watt?

Thanks and have a good weekend

I think the answer is "yes, any of the above". What model is the radio for further verification of how it applies in the circuit?

Hi Exray
Model 70 (early) inside the grandfather clock (570)

My diagram escapes me (in my mess) right now.
Block has a .09mf cap and a 250 ohm resistor.

I used a 1/2 watt 250 ohm in mine . Ihad three of the boogers never could figure what the resisters suppose to do .

Doing some quick math, a 1/4 watt is more than ample. Screen current of 1.7ma. P=I^2 x R (.0017 x .0017) x 250. = .0007 watts.

I don't understand why its in the circuit either? Maybe it helps prevent oscillations or something?
