7050 tube tester
#1

Working on a Philco 7050 tester that won't come to center scale in the calibrate "line"
position except at the highest [extreme right] setting.

Tester seems to test tubes O.K.
I lifted the chassis out & everything looks factory, except maybe the line cord has
been replaced.
Also noticed the 6X5GT/G rect.  Heard horror stories of these shorting & taking
out transformers.
Anyone have info on this happening when used in tube tester applications??

There is only a .1 @ 400 Volt cap underneath which looks a bit questionable. Probably
could be replaced??  I thought there might be a filter for the B+, but none there.

Is anyone aware of a schematic for this unit?

The roll chart [flips on side of case] says it's for a 7051.  Wondering if it has been
updated with a newer version?

Thanks for any info.

Sometimes testers do that when the rectifier tube(s) panels' contacts need cleaning.
Mine does.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Is there a reference somewhere where you can punch in Philco part numbers and see what models those parts were used in?Jim Dutridge — 10:17 AM

Hi OSanders, Look carefully at the band switch. Turn it slowly and "wiggle" it around the desired band. ...MrFixr55 — 12:33 AM
