Can anyone tell me about this console stereo?
#1

I brought this console back from my mother's house in PA. If I remember, it sat inside our front door at the house I was raised in. We moved into that house in 1962, but that's as close as I can get. I don't remember if it was bought when we moved in or it came later. The model number on the back is P 1744-124. Any ideas on a truer date, worth, etc? It is complete and still works. Has buttons for PHONO, TAPE, AM and FM. Thanx very much!

Note from site admin: Sorry, but the photo which was attached to this post is no longer available.

Can't tell you much about it as it is way to new for us. Was made about 1967 from what I can tell but here at the Phorum we deal with Philco's that are pre 1950 or so.
Sorry

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

With the suffix P in the model number, that would make it a Model Year 1966, hitting the dealers about fourth quarter 1965 for the 1966 buying season.

What kind of tape did it take, just out of curiosity? Reels or 8-track? I suspect 1966 would've been way too early for cassette...
