A Sorry-Looking Philco 52-942 for $5 Yields Satisfaction
#1

My older daughter asked if I'd be interested in this radio for $5 (for sale in Dublin, TX where she lives).  I said sure, fully expecting it to just be for parts.  After seeing that the chassis and antenna were in decent shape, I decided to try to salvage it.  I stabilized the cracked right side with epoxy and then used a metal, plastic, and fiberglass polish called Flitz on the cabinet and metal trim.  It worked well.  I used Novus #2 on the dial face.  All the tubes tested good and I did the standard capacitor and resistor replacements.  As received photos are below.  End result is at https://youtu.be/H-Gc-jr-wcM
