First Resto - Philco 60B
#31

Thank you - I'll look into this.

Success!!!!!  (Well, partial success.)  An AM transmitter arrived a few days ago.  It's hooked up to a computer and is broadcasting the music of Glenn Miller on the 60B.

The tuning on the Philco is broad, and the dial is not calibrated correctly.  The AM transmitter is broadcasting at 1340, but the Philco is receiving at a frequency above the printed phenolic dial.  I just purchased a frequency counter, and I'll check to see how accurate my signal generator's scale is before I attempt to align the dial.

This has been the most extensive repair/restoration that I have ever done.  It would have been, no doubt, a relatively simple matter for the more experienced members of the group.  I learned so much from the experience, and from the group.

I've always wanted a Philco ChairSide and a Philco 90.  If I can find reasonably priced ones, I will, no doubt, be back with more questions.

Again - Many, Many Thanks

Glad to hear you got it percolating!

Have fun w/your "new" set.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!
