I agree with the spray lacquer. Much closer to the original finish used on these and much easier to strip if things go badly. I usually use DEFT gloss and after serveral, sometimes 6 or 7, coats with some sanding in between if needed I'll rub it out with rottenstone or a fine pumice followed by a paste wax. But that's just me, others have their own steps and produce fine looking end results. DEFT is found in most hardware and big box stores. I also use one of these masks when spraying lacquer, toner and paints.

Thank you for the advise

I will be replacing the power cord and the one I have has the wide plug on one side does it matter what way it goes on ?
#19

The narrow blade is the hot wire and the wide blade is the neutral. Connect the hot side to the on/off switch be careful working on a AC-DC set they can bite. Best to have a isolation transformer hooked up when working on the set. Take Care David

Definitely, the wide spade should be connected to the power on switch so that when the radio is turned on the mains neutral is B-. If you reverse it you will have a hot chassis.

Thank you very much I wanted to be sure when I replace the cord
