My collection presentation
#1

There is an article on my site that introduces the first portable radios in my collection. I have only provided a link to this article, but if you think it would be wise to move the full content of this and future articles here, I can do so.

The beginning of a portable collection.

This will be a description of my twice favorite part of the collection.
First, these are my favorite battery radios.
Second, these are the most technically advanced receivers among portables.
So - let's begin the presentation of my Transoceanics:

Vlad;
I thought your brown RCA portable looked familiar, I have one that is very similar, the RCA-Victor model BX-55. I too ended up with it as a sort of accident, a fellow I know offered me a few boxes of radios, and that was in with it. It has the same problem that yours did, the filter condenser can is shot. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/rca_bx55_b...rc_10.html

There is a complete instruction how to solve your problem. One piece of advice - be careful with the low-voltage capacitor in the package. Do not mix up the terminals. Otherwise there will be a bang.
