Philco 16X lucky find
#1

Last nite while having dinner at chili's  my son shows me a picture of a nice looking radio. The post said $40 or best offer! So I messaged the guy an offered $30. His response  come get it. This morning  I did. He said used to work but not anymore. Got it home did the usual pre plug in checks. Cranked up the variac slowly ,to my utter amazement  clean static no humm. Hooked up antenna  an MUSIC, Whata surprise. Needs tires for the tuner, front chassis mount screws, volume control  cleaned.
Chassis is clean, cabinet is beautiful  an it sounds great! All thanks to my son who said it just popped up in a search he was doing. Now it has a home an I'll treat it to a serious go over for saftey.

This is one of those few consoles I would get nowadays.
And for $30 it is a real lucky find. A 16X, any version, is a great radio.
I have the later version, but I do like these cabinets more.

Congrats!

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
