Philco tropic C421
#1

Hello,

I am looking for some information on this radio.  I poked around the internet and found nothing.  The batteries are missing.  I assume it is a 90volt/1.5volt.  A schematic would be nice as well.

Thanks in advance.

It is an Argentinian Philco.

I suggest you browse through Tropic radio docs, and try to see the chassis most similar to yours.

The US Tropics are here.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Philco's Tropic brand was generally manufactured for export. There may be some info on a European or South American website.

Hello.  This is a sweet radio, says it was made in Mexico.  I can't find anything on Philco producing radios there.  There is an Argentine antique radio site, ACARAYA, but I do not read Spanish.  Sorry I couldn't help more.

Courage will follow when Faith takes the lead.

It looks like a Philco made in Mexico, according to the back. Whether it was made for the Mexican market or made for export to other Latin American countries I couldn't tell you. The service info on the site cuts off at 1953, after that they started using a letter to denote the year, so assuming that they used a similar model number system to the U.S, it was likely made for the 1956 model year. The cabinet looks like something they would have used in Britain, it does not look like any of the U.S models in those years.
Regards
Arran
