voltage divider question
#1

I am restoring a 37-620 and it has the adjustable resistor voltage divider.  Can someone tell me how to test it with a meter.  What are
the terminals to test vs ground?  Manny thanks

If you mean the wirewound resistor #61 (for the future, please give the ref. designator of a part in question), the test can be done in-circuit with an ohhmeter, as the values are fairly low and will not be distorted much by the circuitry around. You could possibly see a capacitive bounce from the electrolytics but with these values it will be short.
Just test each section.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is #61. However I wanted to know where the ground terminal is and do I test
between ground and each of the terminals. Sorry for so many questions but I have never encountered one of these before.

I do not know where it is, I would have to go and look at the diagram. I guess you simply see which one shows the short to the chassis. In the sch it is the one on the right, which is denoted by it connected to GND symbol.
You do not need to know where the GND terminal to test your divider. Simply test between each consecutive pair or terminals and compare to the sch values.

I just checked my chassis and the terminal closest to the chassis is, logically, attached to the chassis. And all sections on my voltage divider are high. (Darn)

Thanks so much for the info. That explains it better and I will test now.
